Amber Westerman

Amber Westerman is the owner of a design studio based in Spring Green, Wisconsin with 40 years experience in energy efficient custom new homes, additions, and remodeling. She is also a licensed Wisconsin Dwelling Contractor and in 2020, built a net-zero demonstration home that has been toured by over 1000 people and was featured in the June 2022 issue of Fine Homebuilding.

Amber got her start in residential construction working as a carpenter before completing a degree in Architectural Technology at Madison College. She worked as a draftsman for several design and construction firms but says her most valuable initiation into the industry was as an estimator and problem-solver at her local lumber yard.

She has worked or volunteered for a number of community and non-profit organizations including Habitat for Humanity, the Wisconsin Main Street Program, the Dodgeville Historic Preservation Commission, Wright & Like, Taliesin Preservation, and the River Valley Area Community Gardens. She has presented a number of design topics for the Midwest Renewable Energy Association, the Duluth Energy Conference, and Green New Deal Housing.
