Jon Koliner

Dr. Jon Koliner has led field research, modeling, and analysis efforts across his 10 years in electrification, demand management, and energy efficiency. He is adept at leading large studies and research efforts that secure and combine data from many stakeholders. At Slipstream, he leads the Air-to-Water Heat Pump Field Study for Focus on Energy, the whole-building Multifamily Electrification study for ComEd, and the Midwest 120V Heat Pump Water Heater Field Study across three states. He is also finalizing a residential heat pump modeling tool that will be used for an NREL-funded Electrification and Weatherization Optimization study.

In his prior role at Apex Analytics, he was the technical lead for the Northwest Smart Thermostat Study funded by NEEA, the Energy Trust of Oregon Impact Evaluation of the 2012–2019 New Homes Program and Resideo Thermostat Optimization Pilot Evaluation, and he performed incremental cost studies for the Regional Technical Forum. In 2020, he also co-founded Rolling Energy Resources, an electric vehicle load management software company which was recently acquired by ev.energy. He has a Ph.D. in Physics from UW-Madison, where he worked on equilibrium modeling and wave detection in plasmas.
