Zak Paine

Zak is an HVAC technical advisor and subject matter expert specializing in HVAC and related systems at Slipstream since May of 2022. He uses his technical expertise to advise on projects, programs, and research throughout Slipstream. He will develop and provide technical training for program implementors, contractors, and Slipstream staff. Zak’s technical expertise in residential HVAC and quality installation informs the design and execution of Slipstream’s education and training initiatives, with a particular focus on helping the HVAC industry pivot to electrification of heating and water heating. Zak has worked in the plumbing heating and cooling industry for 15 years. Having started as a maintenance technician and moved up to ownership, he has been employed or held every job position between entry level to ownership and some of them simultaneously. During those 15 years, Zak installed and serviced many heat pump systems in various applications. Zak owned and operated his own HVAC company, managing the daily operations of 25 employees, including plumbers, HVAC technicians and installers, and designing and executing employee training initiatives. Zak earned his ICC Masters Mechanical license in 2019 and has been performing HVAC installations since 2010.
Zak grew up in the home building and renovation industry, the experience has allowed him to develop a passion for comfort and reliability in the home as well as a general understanding of home construction methods and how homes function. Zak spent 4 years in the United States Marine Corps as an Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting specialist where he honed his understanding of building codes and enforcement of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, this was beneficial to his transition to the HVAC trade.
